北韓不顧國際社會反對，選在9日「開國紀念日」上午進行第5度核試爆。對此，美國總統歐巴馬矢言推動新的國際制裁，以懲罰北韓再度進行核子試爆。
北韓9日進行開國第5次核試爆，是迄今威力最強大核子試爆後，歐巴馬隨即與南韓總統朴槿惠、日本首相安倍晉三通電話協商。歐巴馬在聲明中說：「永遠不會接受北韓是核武國家。」
歐巴馬表示，將對北韓採取新的制裁等，以向北韓展現，其違法且危險行徑勢必會自食惡果。
自2009年走馬上任以來，歐巴馬一直致力呼籲推動無核武世界。但是北韓卻頻頻進行核試。2009年5月和2013年2月，北韓分別進行第2、3次核試，今年1月6日進行第4次核試。

立法院日前審查司法院院長被提名人許宗力時，外界的焦點多關注在他對蔡英文總統召開的執政決策協調會議有意見，卻忽略了他主張兩岸關係是「特殊國與國關係」，類似過去的西德與東德等論述。 許宗力若經立法院投票同意，就能出任司法院院長，而他也成為第一位公開表態，認為兩岸關係是「特殊國與國關係」的政府高層首長，將對兩岸關係乃至蔡英文宣稱的「維持現狀」形成嚴重的政治衝擊。 1999年7月9日，當時的李登輝總統接受德國之聲專訪時，拋出兩岸關係是「特殊國與國關係」，也就是所謂的「兩國論」的主張，引發美中台三地的政治地震。此一論述，李登輝找了一些學者研議，蔡英文就是其中之一。 李登輝提出「兩國論」後，大陸與美國同表嚴重關切，大陸直指台灣當局從暗獨走向明獨，而美方擔心再次爆發1996台海危機，立刻對李施壓，迫使他任內不再提兩岸關係是特殊國與國關係的主張。 對照過去的案例，蔡英文曾參與「兩國論」的研議，而她提名的許宗力又公然主張兩岸關係是「特殊國與國關係」，豈不是印證了蔡提出的「維持現狀」說法，根本就是在替「兩國論」做包裝、搞掩飾。 按照中華民國憲法及增修條文的規定，司法院院長是司法機關最高首長，並為大法官會議主席，對釋憲決議擁有一定程度的影響作用。許宗力對兩岸關係的立場，難保不會融入其中，左右未來憲政運作。 一旦如此，蔡英文就能透過許宗力從法理上逐步把兩岸關係兩國化，再搭配民進黨主導的立法院修憲或制憲，進一步將中華民國徹底消失無蹤。李登輝任內做不到的事情，蔡有可能會做到。真是可怕啊！ 【中央網路報】
